A stray poodle with severe injuries turned out to be quite the feisty one, even biting the rescuer who was trying to help. Despite the initial struggle, the dog eventually showed immense loyalty and gratitude towards the rescue team who didn’t give up on gaining its trust.
Hope For Paws, an animal rescue organization in Los Angeles, quickly responded to a distress call about a severely injured stray dog. Upon arriving at the location, they found a white dog near where the caller had mentioned, laying on a blanket decorated with an American flag motif meant to serve as a makeshift bed. Approaching the dog cautiously, they noticed that a portion of its hind leg was missing. The dog barked in response to their presence but grew scared and eventually retreated further into the surrounding wilderness. Despite its fear, the dog seemed willing to interact when food was offered, showing a glimmer of hope for a successful rescue mission.
When faced with a frightening situation, most would instinctively run away, but Loreta, being a nurturing soul, decided to stay seated and remain composed. There was no sense of urgency in her demeanor. “It took a good 45 minutes, but I eventually managed to hand-feed the little critter. And then, I gently grabbed him by the scruff of his neck!”
A treacherous journey lies ahead. Loreta seems to have endured several gentle bites, but she holds on tight without letting go. The camera captures a series of bite marks on her finger, a painful reminder of the encounter. “After shouting, biting, and struggling, everything is fine now,” Loreta recounts. “I even gave him the name Washington.”
Even with serious wounds on his leg, Washington’s spirits stayed high as he headed to the hospital.
He happily wags his tail, even while laying down on the examination table at the vet’s office! It’s as if his whole body is filled with joy whenever something good happens.
I buzz my hair, hop in the shower, and let it dry naturally into a fluffy mess. Despite losing the tip of my toe, the rest of my foot was able to be preserved.
Upon laying eyes on the security team, Washington’s face lights up with a grin from ear to ear. Following his release from the hospital, Washington was transferred to a temporary shelter as he awaited placement with his foster parents.
